Ellison 11 is a 36 bed unit specializing in the care of patients with acute coronary syndromes, arrhythmias, heart failure and other vascular diagnoses.

• Most patients on this unit require coronary or peripheral procedures, either diagnostic or interventional. Patients who require EP studies or procedures may also be admitted to this unit.
• Patients who require electrophysiology and arrhythmia post procedural care may be admitted to the unit
• Patients are admitted via the Emergency Department, ICU/CCU, procedural areas or are transferred from other New England Hospitals and out of state Hospitals and from other countries
• Provide monitored services such as Amiodarone drips, low dose dobutamine drips, low dose dopamine, Lidocaine drips, Nitroglycerine drips, Diltiazem drips, Lasix, Bumex drips, initiation of Dofetilide or Sotalol load, antibiotic therapy, blood transfusions, insulin drips, diuretic drips, heparin drips, IVIG, and for stable patients transferred from the Intensive Care Unit requiring further nursing care
• The registered nurse (RN) is accountable for the coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transitions of care.
• The RN supports professional nursing practice across practice settings and across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family.
• The RN provides leadership through activities such as preceptor role, informal and formal leadership roles, and quality improvement efforts.
• The unit provides personalized, high quality, patient-focused care in a supportive care delivery model
• Patient care delivery model is primarily RNs and NPs on this unit

• BSN strongly preferred and current licensure as a Registered Nurse in Massachusetts is required
• Previous staff nurse experience in an acute care hospital, minimum of 1-2 years of experience, Cardiac experience strongly preferred.
• Must be able to work day/night rotation including every 3rd weekend and holidays.

Summary
Accountable for interpreting the plan of medical care, assessment of patients' clinical decision-making regarding nursing care, assuring nursing care is provided in a safe and competent manner, providing individualized nursing care, and evaluating nursing care for groups of patients.

-Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients' conditions.
-Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans.
-Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patients' responses and conditions.

- Ability to maintain confidentiality and secure sensitive information.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Excellent verbal and communication skills.
- Ability to accurately screen and triage acute patients.
