Ellison 11 is a 36-bed unit specializing in the care of patients with acute coronary syndromes, arrhythmias, heart failure, and other vascular diagnoses.

  • Most patients on this unit require coronary or peripheral procedures, either diagnostic or interventional. Patients who require EP studies or procedures may also be admitted to this unit.
  • Patients who require electrophysiology and arrhythmia post-procedural care may be admitted to the unit.
  • Patients are admitted via the Emergency Department, ICU/CCU, procedural areas, transferred from other hospitals, or from other countries.
  • Provide monitored services such as various drips (Amiodarone, Diltiazem, etc.), blood transfusions, insulin, antibiotics, and other therapies for stable patients transferred from ICU.
  • The registered nurse (RN) is accountable for coordinating nursing care, including direct patient care, education, and care transitions.
  • The RN supports professional nursing practice and provides leadership through roles such as preceptor, leader, and quality improvement activities.
  • The unit offers personalized, high-quality, patient-focused care within a supportive delivery model.

Qualifications include a BSN (preferred), current RN licensure in Massachusetts, 1-2 years of acute care experience (cardiac preferred), and flexibility to work day/night shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Job Summary

Responsible for interpreting care plans, assessing patient decisions, providing safe and individualized nursing care, and evaluating care outcomes.

Patient care is required.

Essential Functions
  • Maintain accurate reports and records.
  • Administer medications and monitor for reactions.
  • Record vital signs and medical information.
  • Monitor and report patient condition changes.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team to plan and modify care.
Qualifications

Education: Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's preferred.

Licenses: Valid RN license in MA.

Experience: 0-1 year clinical nursing experience.

Skills: Knowledge of nursing principles, medical terminology, communication, confidentiality, and triage skills.
