Job summary

Cell Staff partners with the Alaska Department of Corrections to place a Nurse Practitioner at Goose Creek Correctional Center in Wasilla, Alaska's largest correctional facility. The NP will own a patient population with autonomy in a primary/acute care setting.

The position offers a 13-week contract with potential extension, a 7 on/7 off schedule (77 hours per week), day shifts, and January 1, 2027 start. Local compensation packages and travel stipends are available.

Qualifications

• Active Alaska NP license (or actively pursuing).
• DEA license required.
• Minimum 2 years of NP experience; ER, Family Practice, or Primary Care background strongly preferred.
• Broad clinical competency for acute and primary care.
• Corrections or institutional healthcare experience is a plus.
• BLS (AHA) required; ACLS preferred.
• Must be able to clear a State of Alaska background check.
• Covid vaccine not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive medical care to a large, complex correctional population.
• Manage acute and chronic conditions across Alaska's largest maximum-security facility.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including physicians, RNs, and mental health staff.
• Conduct sick calls, chronic care visits, and urgent/emergency evaluations.

Are you an experienced Nurse Practitioner looking for a high-impact clinical role in Alaska? Cell Staff has partnered with the Alaska Department of Corrections to place an NP at Goose Creek Correctional Center in Wasilla — Alaska's largest correctional facility. We're looking for a skilled, autonomous clinician with a strong primary or acute care background and the confidence to own a patient population during a full 7-day block.
