Job summary

Indian Health Service is hiring Nurse Practitioners to provide comprehensive primary care to American Indian and Alaska Native communities. The role emphasizes diagnosis, treatment planning, and patient education within a federal health service setting.

Selected candidates may be subject to a probationary period, background checks, and compliance with Public Law 101-630. On-call and rotating shifts may be required, with potential sign-on incentives and loan repayment programs available.

Qualifications

• Graduate or higher-level degree in nursing from an accredited program.
• Current, active, full, and unrestricted license/registration as a professional nurse.
• APN licensure in the clinical specialty indicated by the position.
• Successful completion of a federal background investigation.
• U.S. Citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret patient histories, symptoms, and diagnostic information to develop diagnoses.
• Develop treatment plans based on standards of care and guidelines.
• Diagnose or treat acute health care problems.
• Prescribe medications based on efficacy, safety, dosage and frequencies.
• Educate patients about self-management of illnesses.
