Job summary

The Indian Health Service is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to provide comprehensive health care to American Indian and Alaska Native communities. You will assess patients, diagnose illnesses, develop treatment plans, prescribe medications, and educate patients on self-care.

Position includes federal employment with probationary period, background investigation, rotating shifts, on-call as needed, and eligibility requirements; E-Verify; opportunities for advancement and potential incentives.

Qualifications

• Graduate or higher-level degree in nursing from an accredited program.
• Current, active, and unrestricted nursing license as a professional nurse.
• Advanced Practice Nurse licensure/registration in the required clinical specialty where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret patient histories, symptoms, and diagnostics to form appropriate diagnoses.
• Develop treatment plans based on standards of care and professional guidelines.
• Diagnose or treat acute health problems such as illnesses, infections, and injuries.
• Prescribe medications based on efficacy, safety, dosage, and frequency.
• Educate patients about self-management and tailor instructions to individual circumstances.
