Job summary

Indian Health Service is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to provide high-quality medical care to American Indian and Alaska Native communities. The role emphasizes diagnosing, treating, and educating patients within a mission-driven federal agency.

The successful candidate will practice under federal guidelines, participate in on-going care, and may be eligible for recruitment/relocation sign-on bonuses. A valid NP license and background investigation are required, with rotating shift schedules

Qualifications

• Graduate or higher-level degree in nursing from an accredited program.
• Current, active NP licensure in the United States.
• Background investigation and selective service requirements for federal employment.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret patient histories to develop diagnoses.
• Develop evidence-based treatment plans based on standards of care.
• Diagnose or treat acute health care problems such as illnesses or injuries.
• Prescribe medications based on efficacy, safety, dosage and frequencies.
• Educate patients about self-management of acute or chronic illnesses.
