Job summary

North Carolina School for the Deaf seeks a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Extender to provide direct student health care and supervise the SHC team. The role involves autonomous clinical duties under physician supervision and leadership over nursing services across the campus.

You will oversee daily SHC operations, ensure regulatory compliance, manage EMR records, and coach staff while coordinating health initiatives with school leadership.

Qualifications

• Licensed Physician Assistant with NC Medical Board licensure.
• Or licensed Nurse Practitioner under NC Board of Nursing and NC Medical Board.
• Experience supervising SHC nursing staff is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct patient care in the Student Health Center and supervise student care.
• Oversee SHC operations, staffing, and timekeeping.
• Audit nursing documentation for quality and regulatory compliance.
• Maintain medical records security and compliance with EHR systems.
• Coordinate training and in-service education for SHC staff.
• Collaborate with Superintendent and school leadership to achieve health goals.
