Huntsville Hospital in Alabama is seeking a nurse practitioner or physician assistant to provide comprehensive direct patient care and scholarly practice including taking patient histories, performing physical exams, and coordinating diagnostic testing.

You will diagnose illnesses, prescribe treatments, and deliver health maintenance and education to patients and families, while supporting staff education, clinical research, and quality improvement initiatives.

Formación

• MSN required and NP certification
• Current Alabama NP license or PA license with Alabama Board of Nursing/Board of Medical Examiners
• BLS certification by end of orientation

Responsabilidades

• Provide comprehensive direct patient care and patient histories
• Perform complete physical examinations and order/interpret diagnostic tests
• Diagnose illnesses and prescribe treatments
• Educate patients and families on health maintenance and counseling
• Support indirect care duties: staff education, clinical research, program development, quality improvement
• Assist in clerical functions as needed

The nurse practitioner provides/physician assistant comprehensive direct patient care and scholarly practice including obtaining comprehensive patient histories, performing complete physical examination, ordering and performing diagnostic testing and screening, diagnosing illness, prescribing both pharmacological and other treatments for patients, and providing health maintenance and promotion interventions such as patient and family education and counseling. Also, the NP/PA assumes accountability for indirect care responsibilities, which support patient care including staff and student education, clinical research, program development, and quality improvement. Assists in clerical functions as necessary.

Qualifications

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Experience required:

Education required: Completion of a Nurse Practitioner Masters of Science in Nursing. Successful completion of a national certification exam for NP or graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program

License, certification and/or registration: Current registration with the Alabama Board of Nursing and Board of Medical Examiners or current Alabama PA license. Approval of the Huntsville Hospital credentialing board. BLS certification required by the end of the orientation period

Additional Skills/Abilities: Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a fast paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly. Must receive BCLS during the orientation period. Works well with others in a team environment. Previous experience with electronic medical records preferred.
