Huntsville Hospital is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to deliver direct patient care in the Emergency Care Center and Critical Care units. You will obtain comprehensive histories, perform exams, order tests, diagnose conditions, and initiate treatment plans.

The role emphasizes patient and family education, collaboration with the healthcare team, and ongoing quality improvement initiatives within a leading nonprofit health system in North Alabama.

Qualificações

• Master’s degree in nursing for NP or Master’s degree for PA.
• Current Alabama licensure and national certification as NP/PA.
• Minimum 3 years ER/CCU RN or CRNP/PA experience recommended.

Responsabilidades

• Provide comprehensive direct patient care in the ER/CCU setting.
• Take patient histories and perform full physical examinations.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, diagnose illnesses, and develop treatment plans.
• Educate patients and families on health maintenance and promote wellness.

Qualifications

The nurse practitioner/physician assistant provides comprehensive direct patient care and scholarly practice including obtaining comprehensive patient histories, performing complete physical examination, ordering and performing diagnostic testing and screening, diagnosing illness, prescribing both pharmacological and other treatments for patients, and providing health maintenance and promotion interventions such as patient and family education and counseling. Also, the NP/PA assumes accountability for indirect care responsibilities, which support patient care including staff and student education, clinical research, program development, and quality improvement.

Education:

Completion of Nurse Practitioner Master's of Science in Nursing or Physician Assistant Master's program from an accredited college or university required.

License:

Successful completion of a National Certification Exam for NP/PA.
Current registration through the Alabama board of Nursing and/or Board of Medical Examiners.
Approval of the Huntsville Hospital credentialing board.
BLS required before the conclusion of the orientation period.
ACLS must be obtained within the first 6 months of employment and maintained current.

Experience:

Minimum 3 years full time ER or Critical Care RN and/or CRNP/PA experience recommended.

Additional Skills/Abilities:

Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to work independently in a fast paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly.
Must have knowledge of all equipment and materials required for procedures described in the Emergency Care Center Policy/Procedure Manual and Nursing Service Procedure Manual.
Department specific competencies must be completed within the provisional period and maintained current.
