Job Summary

We are seeking a Physician Assistant for the Duke Reconstructive Plastic Surgery Clinics located in Durham, NC. The PA will work in collaboration with attending physicians, collect and document data, conduct diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, order and schedule laboratory studies and professional consultations, and provide direct patient care services.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• In collaboration with attending physicians, perform triage, physical exams, data collection and documentation, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, order and schedule laboratory and diagnostic tests, prescribe interventions and medications, coordinate patient care, and provide direct patient care for breast reconstructive plastic surgery patients.
• Analyze clinical practice patterns to improve medical care quality and efficiency.
• Communicate all pertinent patient information verbally and in writing to supervising MDs, nursing staff, patient resource managers, home health agencies, and other healthcare providers.
• Document all relevant data promptly in the electronic medical record, including diagnostic results, patient condition, responses to therapies, and communications with colleagues.

Job Eligibility Requirements

Education

• Nurse Practitioners: Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program with a Master's degree in Nursing.
• Physician Assistants: Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program. Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred.

Certification

• BLS certification required.

License

• Nurse Practitioners: Current or compact RN licensure in North Carolina. BLS certification. National NP certification required within 6 months of employment.
• Physician Assistants: Licensed in NC, certified by NCCPA. DEA licensure required.

Experience

• At least 1 year of APP experience preferred.

Job Hours

Primary hours are Monday through Friday, daytime, with flexibility to meet patient needs.
