Job Summary:

We are seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) for Duke Orthopedics at the Duke Spine Center in Durham, NC, as well as at Duke University and Duke Regional Hospitals. The APP will provide direct patient care in collaboration with the attending physician, focusing on Spine Orthopedic and General Orthopedic care. The APP will assist in surgical procedures as needed, including first assisting at Duke University Hospital and Duke Regional Hospital.

Primary hours are Monday through Friday, with flexible hours to meet patient needs.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide care for patients needing spine and general orthopedic care.
  • Coordinate patient care including triage, physical exams, data collection, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, laboratory studies, peri-operative workflow, and prescribing interventions and medications.
  • Communicate all pertinent patient information to the supervising physician and healthcare team.
  • Document all relevant data in the electronic medical record accurately and timely.
  • Respond to patient inquiries via telephone or MyChart and consult with supervising physicians as needed.
  • Analyze clinical practice patterns to improve care quality and efficiency.
  • Refer patients to other services as needed.

Job Eligibility Requirements:

Education:

  • Nurse Practitioners: Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program with a Master's degree in Nursing.
  • Physician Assistants: Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program; Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred.

Certification:

  • BLS required.

License:

  • Nurse Practitioners: Current RN licensure in NC, national certification as an NP.
  • Physician Assistants: NC license and certification by the NCCPA.

Job Hours:

Primary hours are Monday through Friday, with flexible scheduling.
