Job summary

Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL, seeks a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for the Critical Care Department on the day shift. You will provide high-level ICU care under MMG protocols, collaborating with physicians to evaluate and treat a wide spectrum of patients.

The ideal candidate has a clinical background in oncology or critical care, holds a Florida license or is eligible, and demonstrates strong communication and teamwork in a fast-paced academic medical environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree at minimum; master's degree preferred.
• Graduate of an accredited Advanced Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant program.
• Active Florida medical license or ability to obtain one; BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Experience in oncology, critical care, emergency medicine or internal medicine preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care as part of an interdisciplinary team in the ICU.
• Evaluates, manages and treats patients under physician protocols.
• Develops treatment plans within scope of practice and protocols.
• May perform minor procedures and prescribe medications as allowed.
• Documents care according to medical staff guidelines.

Summary Practices medicine within the scope of authority and privileges granted by Moffitt Cancer Center. Provides patient care under the auspices of Moffitt Medical Group, and serves as member of the academic medical enterprise; advancing the institutional mission of contributing to the prevention and cure of cancer.

As a medical provider that is not a physician but is licensed to diagnose and treat patients under protocol with a physician(s), the Nurse Practitioner assists physicians in the evaluation, management and treatment of patients.

The Nurse Practitioner is involved in a wide spectrum of patients with different medical problems, procedures and co-morbidities.

Works independently within a defined scope of practice and under the authority of physician(s) under protocol(s).

Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant – Critical Care Department (Day Shift)

Based in the Critical Care Department, this Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant position provides critical patient care under the auspices of the Moffitt Medical Group (MMG) and serves as a member of the academic medical enterprise, advancing the institutional mission of contributing to the prevention and cure of cancer.

• Works within a defined scope of practice and under the authority of supervising physician(s) or by specific protocol(s).

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care as a member of an interdisciplinary team, working with many specialists to coordinate and optimize patient care.
• Correlates subjective and objective data to formulate a differential or working diagnosis.
• Formulates treatment plans for medical conditions within the scope of practice.
• May perform minor surgical procedures within the scope of practice.
• Prescribes oral and IV medications when appropriate, within the scope of practice.
• Documents patient care in accordance with medical staff rules.

Credentials and Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree at minimum; master's degree preferred.
• Graduate of an accredited Advanced Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant program.
• Active FL medical license (or the ability to obtain one) and certification by the appropriate accreditation body.
• Active BLS and ACLS (must be AHA approved).
• Experience in oncology, critical care, emergency medicine and/or general internal medicine is preferred.

Salary Range $131,892.80 - $201,052.80 Salary ranges posted for this position represent the expected base pay range for the role. Actual compensation may vary based on location and a variety of job-related factors, including experience, skills, education, and internal equity among Team Members in similar positions.
