Stony Brook Medicine Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants are valuable members of the Endocrinology Division providing essential clinical services to our patient population. We are seeking candidates to provide coverage of our clinical service in the outpatient setting. Qualified candidates will demonstrate superior patient care and possess outstanding communication skills while adhering to our high standard of excellence.
The Division of Endocrinology & Metabolism in the Department of Medicine is seeking an outpatient diabetes Nurse Practitioner who will work with physicians and nurses. Successful incumbent will demonstrate excellent communication skills as well as the ability to collaborate and resolve issues to achieve desired goals.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Nurse Practitioner: Current NYS RN license. Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited school. NYS license as an adult/family Nurse Practitioner. AANP/ANCC certification.
Physician Assistant: Current NYS Physician Assistant license. Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited school. NCCPA Certification.
Eligible to sit for and must pass the Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) exam within two years of employment. Must possess excellent oral, verbal, and written communication skills; customer service/interpersonal skills, problem solving skills, organizational skills, time management skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
One year of post licensure experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with experience in diabetes management and/or Internal Medicine. Experience with patient education in an outpatient setting. Knowledge of current clinical guidelines and standards from the American Diabetes Association, American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists and American Association of Diabetes Educators. Previous experience with EMR.
