Job description

Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - Medical Weight Management, Full-time, Days

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for our outpatient Medical Weight Management department within the Digestive Health Institute. This role involves working with patients with a BMI of 30 or higher, many of whom have specific digestive or surgical needs.

Schedule: Monday to Friday, days; 4 days outpatient clinic (32 hours), 1 day administrative. No nights, weekends, holidays, or on-call duties.

Essential Functions:
  • Provide expert clinical care, including diagnosis, management, and treatment of patients.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other health professionals.
  • Develop educational programs for patients, families, and staff.
  • Mentor students and participate in quality improvement and research activities.
Responsibilities:
  • Conduct health assessments and physical examinations.
  • Prescribe medications and therapies, order and interpret tests and procedures.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation and communicate effectively with patients and team members.
  • Participate in ongoing education, research, and quality initiatives.
Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree from an accredited nursing or Physician Assistant program.
  • Current Illinois RN license, APRN license, and certification, or Physician Assistant license.
  • Minimum two years of APP experience.
Preferred:
  • Experience with GLP-1 prescriptions, lifestyle coaching, and independent practice.
