Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, invites applications for either a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant role within the Epilepsy Division. The successful candidate will support office visits and Epilepsy Monitoring Unit coverage, conduct histories, exams, and outpatient consultations, and participate in diagnostics, treatment planning, and education.

• Support Division of Epilepsy to facilitate office visits and Epilepsy Monitoring Unit coverage.
• Perform patient history taking and physical examinations; outpatient consultations.
• Order and perform diagnostics and therapeutic procedures; develop and implement treatment plans.
• Provide counseling and education; make referrals and monitor therapy effectiveness.

Responsibilities

This position will support the Division of Epilepsy, to facilitate office visits as well as Epilepsy Monitoring Unit coverage.

The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant performs the following tasks in an authorized setting, such as the clinic or hospital. The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant at Mayo Clinic also may perform the following tasks in any authorized setting:

• Obtaining patient history
• Performing physical examinations
• Performing outpatient consultations
• Ordering and performing diagnostic and/ortherapeutic procedures
• Formulating a diagnostic impression
• Developing and implementing a treatment plan
• Monitoring effectiveness of therapeutic interventions
• Offering counseling and education to meet patient needs
• Making appropriate referrals
• Prescribing and dispensing prescription medication in accordance with FL state laws and department policies
• Demonstrates ability to assess data reflective of patient's status and appropriately interprets information relative to patient's age-specific needs.
• Assist with ongoing departmental process improvement and policy development
• Other departmental or institutional committee assignments as needed

Qualifications

Due to the complexity of our patient population, new graduates will not be considered at this time.

Nurse Practitioner:Masters-prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program. Current FL RN and APRN license and certification as a FNP, ANP, ACNP, AGACNP, ACNP-AG, or AGNP.

Physician Assistant:Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the FL State Board of Medical Practice.

Additional Qualifications:

ActiveBLS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Crossat start dateand DEA registration required.
