Job summary

Mayo Clinic is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the Hospital Internal Medicine team in Austin, MN. This role provides around-the-clock coverage with a home base in Austin and periodic travel to regional sites, collaborating with on-site physicians to care for patients on medical and surgical floors.

Applicants must hold an NP or PA credential with the appropriate Minnesota licensure, DEA registration, and BLS/ACLS. New graduates welcome with references.

Qualifications

• Nurse Practitioner with MN RN and APRN license and applicable certifications.
• Certification as FNP, ANP, ACNP, AGNP/AGPCNP, AGACNP/ACNPC-AG, or GNP.
• DEA registration required; BLS and ACLS required.

Responsibilities

• Provide 24/7 coverage with home base in Austin and occasional travel to regional sites in Red Wing.
• Perform admissions, comprehensive assessment, orders, diagnostics, prescriptions, referrals, patient education and discharges.
• Onboarding will occur in Austin and Red Wing; learning includes SIM and didactic sessions at Rochester and other locations.

Responsibilities

The MN state HIM NPPA practice provides 24/7 coverage. This role will have a home base in Austin and some travel to the regional sites in Red Wing. NPPAs will serve as an independent provider, collaborating with an on-site physician – teaming up to care for patients on the medical/surgical floor and progressive care unit. NPs / PAs complete admissions, provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, ordering, conducting and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescription of pharmacological agents, referrals, patient education and complete discharges. Orientation will primarily take place in Austin and Red Wing on the medical/surgical floors, progressive care unit, intensive care unit and CAH expectations. On boarding will require travel for AI learning including SIM and didactic which we will utilize Rochester and other locations. Qualifications

Nurse Practitioner: Masters-prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program. Current Minnesota RN and APRN license and certification as a:

• Family Nurse Practitioner Certification (FNP)
• Adult Nurse Practitioner Certification (ANP)
• Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certification (ACNP)
• Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Certification (AGNP or AGPCNP)
• Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certification (AGACNP or ACNPC-AG)
• Gerontological Nurse Practitioner Certification (GNP)

Physician Assistant: Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the Minnesota State Board of Medical Practice.

Registration with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) is required. BLS and ACLS is required.
