Job description

Location: Geisinger Community Medical Center (GCMC) | Shift: Rotation | Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 | Worker Type: Regular (Exempt)

Geisinger Community Medical Center is seeking a Physician Assistant or an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to join our skilled team of critical care providers, practicing state‑of‑the‑art medicine with support from excellent physicians and nursing staff.

Responsibilities

• Work 14 shifts/month with a mix of days and nights (12‑hour shifts from 7am‑7pm or 7pm‑7am).
• Serve in a collaborative role with the physician and staff in assessing needs, planning and providing education and care, evaluating outcomes, and coordinating follow‑up and referrals for patients.
• Function as a patient advocate in the medical care system as confidant, advisor and liaison between patients, families and physicians.
• Moonlighting available for extra income.

Qualifications

• Education: Master’s Degree – Physician Assistant (Required) or Master’s Degree – Nurse Practitioner (Required).
• Certification(s) and License(s): Basic Life Support Certification (Default Issuing Body); Certified Physician Assistant – National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
• Skills: Care Management Knowledge, Clinical Policies and Standards, Health Information Systems (HIS), Patient Assessment and Care, Patient Safety, Patients Rights.
