Job summary

Comprehensive Pain and Spine Specialists, LLC seeks a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our outpatient clinical team. The role focuses on evaluating and treating acute and chronic pain and spine conditions with independence and collaborative support.

The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive care, develop individualized treatment plans, and educate patients on options and long-term strategies in a high-volume setting.

Qualifications

  • Nurse Practitioner or PA degree required; Indiana licensure or ability to obtain.
  • Current national certification through ANCC/AANP/NCCPA.
  • DEA registration and prescriptive authority or ability to obtain.
  • BLS required; ACLS preferred.
  • Strong clinical judgment, communication, and ability to work independently.
  • Experience in pain management/spine care preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive patient evaluations and medical histories.
  • Assess and manage patients with chronic pain, spine disorders, and musculoskeletal conditions.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans with supervising physician.
  • Order, review, and interpret diagnostic tests and imaging.
  • Prescribe medications and therapies in accordance with Indiana regulations.
  • Educate patients on diagnoses, treatment options, and long-term management.
  • Document encounters in the EHR and coordinate care with the team.

We are focused on providing innovative, evidence-based therapies that cater to individual health needs, guiding patients toward a path of comfort and recovery.

Position Overview:

We areseekingeither a Nurse Practitioner or a Physician Assistant to join our clinical team. We welcome candidates who are eager to learn and grow within pain management and spine care!

This position will provide direct patient care for individuals with acute and chronic pain conditions, musculoskeletal injuries, and spine-related disorders in an outpatient setting. The ideal candidate is comfortable evaluating patients independently, developing treatment plans, coordinating care with physicians, and educating patients on treatment options and long-term pain management strategies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform comprehensive patient evaluations, including medical histories, physical examinations, and review of diagnostic testing and imaging.
  • Assess andmanagepatients with chronic pain, back and neck pain, musculoskeletal conditions, neuropathy, joint pain, and spine-related disorders.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the supervising physician and clinical team.
  • Order, review, and interpret diagnostic tests, including laboratory work, X-rays, MRI, CT, and other studies asappropriate.
  • Prescribe medications and therapiesin accordance withIndiana regulations, practice protocols, and scope of practice.
  • Provide follow-up care and ongoing management for patients receiving conservative treatment, medication management, and interventional pain procedures.
  • Educate patients and familiesregardingdiagnoses, treatment plans, medication use, lifestyle modifications, and preventative care.
  • Document all patient encounters accurately andtimelywithin the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, medical assistants, physical therapists, imaging centers, pharmacies, and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated patient care.
  • Assistwith pre-procedure and post-procedure patient management as needed.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, staff meetings, and continuing education.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality andcomply withHIPAA and all applicable federal and Indiana state regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Degree in Nursing from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program or graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.

  • Current Indiana licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, or ability to obtain licensure prior to start date.
  • Current national certification through ANCC, AANP, or NCCPA.
  • DEA registration and prescriptive authority, or ability to obtain prior to start date.
  • Current BLS certification; ACLS certification preferred.
  • Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and assessment skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with patients.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with physicians and other members of the healthcare team.
Preferred Experience:
  • Experience as an NP or PA in pain management, orthopedics, spine, neurology, physical medicine and rehabilitation, primary care, urgent care, or a related specialty preferred.
  • Experience managing chronic pain patients and familiarity with interventional pain management or spine procedures preferred.
  • Experience with EHR systems and medical documentation.
  • Knowledge of controlled substance prescribing, pain contracts, and monitoring requirements.
