Job summary

Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, part of Mass General Brigham, seeks a Nurse Practitioner to join the ED team. The role is full-time, 36 hours per week, with 3 12-hour shifts and weekend/holiday coverage, no overnight shifts.

The NP assesses and manages diverse patient populations in ED and may follow up in outpatient or urgent care settings. Responsibilities include direct patient care, counseling, histories and exams, order/tests, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Nursing required.
• APRN-NP license (state) required.
• Experience as NP 0-1 year preferred.
• Active and unrestricted RN/APRN license as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct care, counseling, and education to patients in ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and procedural settings.
• Performs complete histories and physical examinations.
• Orders, interprets, and evaluates laboratory and diagnostic tests.
• Develops care plans and follows up based on test results and exams.
• Documents admissions, progress, procedures, and discharges timely and accurately.

Job Summary This is a Full-Time position, 36hrs/week, 3 -12 hour shifts, weekend & holiday requirement, no overnight.

The APP will work in the Emergency Department and will also have a role in an ED Follow Up in Outpatient or Urgent Care Clinic.

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a licensed provider. The NP is responsible for assessing and managing various patient populations, including those with medical and/or surgical conditions, as well as providing diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, developing appropriate plans of care, and conducting ongoing evaluations.

Essential Functions

• Provides direct care, counseling, and education to a designated patient population in ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural settings.
• Performs complete histories and physical examinations.
• Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
• Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings.
• Consistently provides high-quality and timely documentation, including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes, and discharge summaries.
• Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population.
• Orders medications and writes prescriptions in accordance with organizational and regulatory policies and procedures.

Experience

Experience as a Nurse Practitioner 0-1 year preferred
