Job summary

University Health in Texas is seeking a Physician Assistant or Surgeon Assistant to support neonatal care under a designated provider. Responsibilities include front-line care in delivery, well-baby nursery, and NICU with follow-up for newborns and infants.

Applicants must have completed an accredited PA/SA education program, be licensed in Texas, maintain NRP, and obtain prescriptive authority with DEA and DPS numbers within 90 days of hire.

Job description

POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES

Carries out, under the direction of the designated neonatal provider, assignments designed to develop expertise in specified area/specialty. Assignments will be centered around comprehensive care to neonates up to 6 months of age, high-quality front-line care for infants in the delivery room, well-baby nursery and neonatal intensive care unit, and follow-up care to newborns and infants.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Successful Completion of an educational program for physician assistants or surgeon assistants accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs, or by that committee’s predecessor or successor entities is required.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION

Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants is recommended. Must be currently licensed as a Physician Assistant in the State of Texas.

Must maintain current NRP. Prescriptive authority is required. Valid DEA and DPS numbers must be obtained within 90-days of hire.
