Qualifications

The Division of Occupational and Environmental Medicine isseeking a Nurse Practitioner to manage the day-to-dayclinical care and activities at the PepsiCo Denver (Pecos), COonsite clinic. The position reports directly to the RegionalManager for the PepsiCo/JHU partnership. The position also worksclosely with the Medical Director, and Division Administrator ofthe Division of Occupational and Environmental Medicine.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site services forty (40) hours per week at thePepsiCo clinic in Denver (Pecos), CO.
  • Triage and treat, as appropriate, minor work-related andnon-work-related injuries and illnesses.
  • Dispense over the counter and prescription medications inaccordance with pre-established standing orders to employees withminor work-related and non-work-related concerns (back pain,headache, and pharyngitis).
  • Provide on-site specimen/lab collection for employeespresenting lab orders from their PCP.
  • Perform urine drug screening and breath alcohol testing inaccordance with company protocol.
  • Provide on-site assessments for acute and chronic illnesses,such as strep pharyngitis, UTI, influenza, hypertension,hyperglycemia, and hypoglycemia.
  • Provide support and case management for both work-related andnon-work-related conditions to reduce illness and absenteeism.
  • Coordinate second opinions for employees absent due to workers'compensation or disability, as necessary in adherence with companyprotocols.
  • Coordinate annual seasonal influenza vaccination program.
  • Coordinate, plan, and deliver monthly health education seminarsand general wellness events.
  • Provide referrals for PepsiCo employees who need the attentionof a primary care physician or perform on-site physical assessments(DOT, return to work, work-related injuries) as required byPepsiCo.
  • Work collaboratively with patients and their PCP/Specialist tofacilitate early diagnosis and management of acute and chronic illnesses.
  • Specialist in adherence to company protocols.
  • Provide on-site patient education regarding illnesses,medications, treatments, etc.
  • Participate in case presentations and other opportunities tofoster academic mission and clinical excellence

Administrative services provided to PepsiCo include

  • Maintain and revise, as needed, standardized procedures,protocols, and standing orders.
  • Maintain adequate clinical supplies.
  • Maintain Letter of Permit Exception with the ColoradoDepartment of Health/CLIA required for lab testing providedon-site.
  • Maintain patient electronic medical records.

Work collaboratively with the Benefits and Safetyteams

  • To coordinate and plan health and wellness events andinitiatives.
  • To manage workers’ compensation claims.
  • To expand clinic services and reach.
  • Provide crisis management/intervention, as needed
  • Provide general medical advice to the PepsiCo Human Resourcesand Safety/Risk Management departments.
  • Ensure the provision of prompt, appropriate clinical care toall patients in accordance with PepsiCo and Johns HopkinsUniversity protocols, State regulations, and professionalstandards.
  • Develop relationships with clinical providers in the area toprovide back-up clinical care.
  • Ensure timely and appropriate problem resolution and follow-upto PepsiCo employees as required.
  • Participating in clinical learning presentations with theclient or the clinical team
  • Ensure PepsiCo's onsite clinic facilities are neat, clean, andattractive.
  • Develop and implement new administrative policies andprocedures as needed to ensure the smooth operation of PepsiCo'sonsite clinics.
  • Ensure all patients receive prompt, courteous, friendly, andprofessional attention to their needs and requests.
  • Conduct yourself in an exemplary fashion to achieve goals.

Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Analytical ability is necessary to evaluate and determine the health status of patients and implement proper care.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to interview, teach, and counselpatients and interact with clients/employers.
  • A comprehensive understanding of outpatient adult medicine,patient care procedures, medical protocols, and testing proceduresis necessary.
  • Must have general computer knowledge and the ability to usecomputerized medical information systems.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing; Registered Nurse license andCertified as a Nurse Practitioner
  • Must be licensed in the state where practicing.
  • Current CPR certification required. Must maintain currentlicensure and certification during duration of employment.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience tothe extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of twelve months of related experience (adultmedicine).
  • Experience in Occupational Medicine, Workers’ Compensation, andDOT exams.
  • DOT Medical Examiner preferred.
  • Certified Urine Drug Screen Collector preferred.
  • Certified Breath Alcohol Technician preferred.

Failure to meetthis requirement may result in termination of employment.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas,laboratories, working with research subjects, or involvingcommunity contact requires documentation of immune status againstRubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella(chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received theTdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may includedocumentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicellavaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratorytesting. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases areordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except forthose employees who provide results of blood tests or immunizationdocumentation from their own health care providers. Anyvaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no costin our Occupational Health office.
