Job summary

University of Maryland Medical System seeks an experienced clinician to join its outpatient cardiology team. The role emphasizes collaboration with cardiologists, interventionalists, and the APP team to deliver comprehensive evaluations and care for patients with diverse cardiac conditions.

The incumbent will perform full history and physical exams, order and interpret tests, develop evidence-based treatment plans, and educate patients and families on disease processes and prevention.

Qualifications

• Must hold current license to practice medicine in Maryland.
• Board certification in Nurse Practitioner (Adult Gerontology or Acute Care) preferred.
• DEA or similar Narcotics/Controlled Substances Certification required.
• Clinical privileges at UMMS affiliated acute care facility may be required.
• Cardiology, ICU, or inpatient hospitalist experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide outpatient cardiology-focused care in a regional center.

• Clinical Highlights:

• Evaluate and manage patients with a variety of acute and chronic cardiac conditions
• Demonstrates competence in clinical assessment and decision -making including diagnostic reasoning and problem solving.
• Performs comprehensive history and physical assessment for patients in practice setting.
• Orders, obtains and interprets appropriate diagnostic tests.
• Establishes medical diagnosis based on history, assessment, and diagnostic findings.
• Designs, orders and documents appropriate treatment plans/plans of care including prescriptions of medications based on a comprehensive review of HPI and diagnostic results.
• Initiates protocols/clinical pathways, evaluates the plan of care ensuring timely intervention.
• Incorporates the patient and family in their healthcare plan; communicates plan of care with the patients and family members. Provides patient and family instruction related to the plan of care, disease process, new treatment plans, and medication regimens.
• Counsels and educates patients and family members in disease process, health maintenance and health promotion activities. Provides primary, secondary, and tertiary preventive care services.

Work Experience

• Possesses and maintains current license to practice medicine in the State of Maryland required.
• Possesses and maintains current Board Certification of Nurse Practitioner, Adult Gerontology or Acute Care certified preferred
• Possesses and maintains current DEA or similar Narcotics and Controlled Substances Certification required.
• Possesses and maintains, if applicable, appropriate clinical privileges at a minimum of one UMMS affiliated acute care facility.
• Experience in cardiology, ICU, or inpatient hospitalist settings strongly preferred
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, and team-based care skills
