Job summary

Aiken Physicians Alliance is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to provide primary and hospitalist-internal medicine services for inpatients under physician supervision. The NP works as the physician's agent in performing diagnostic, therapeutic, and other medical services, with timely physician review of patient care.

The role requires advanced NP training, SC licensure with prescriptive authority, ACLS certification, and 3–5 years acute hospital experience; collaboration with a multidisciplinary

Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge and clinical skills from Nurse Practitioner training.
  • Three to five years in acute care hospital medicine preferred; ACLS certification required.
  • Licensed by the South Carolina State Board of Medical Examiners.
  • Current SC Nurse Practitioner license with prescriptive authority.

Responsibilities

  • Performs and records patient history and physical exams per hospital policy.
  • Orders lab and diagnostic procedures as needed.
  • Synthesizes data to determine diagnoses and therapeutic plans.
  • Recognizes changes in patient condition and reports to hospitalist physician.
  • Coordinates and develops comprehensive care plans with patient and multidisciplinary team.
  • Maintains communication with primary care physicians regarding patient care needs.
  • Acts as hospitalist service liaison with patient care staff.
  • Facilitates collaboration between hospitalists, staff, case managers, and attending physicians.

Job Summary The medical aspects of care provided by the nurse practitioner shall be in connection with providing primary care to inpatients enrolled in the Hospitalist Internal Medicine Service. These services are provided within the framework of acute and primary health care and under the supervision of a physician. The nurse practitioner shall be considered the agent of the supervising physician in the performance of all practice-related activities including the ordering of diagnostic, therapeutic and other medical services. A patient’s medical care shall be reviewed with a physician in a timely manner.

  • Performs and records the patient history and physical examination in accordance with hospital policy and in compliance with standards and regulations. Establishes differential diagnosis and communicates findings with the physician.
  • Orders appropriate lab and diagnostic procedures.
  • Synthesizes data to determine primary diagnosis and therapeutic plan utilizing established medical principles.
  • Demonstrates the ability to recognize and critically assess any changes in patient’s condition and reports such to the hospitalist physician.
  • Facilitates coordination and development of a comprehensive and individual plan of care in collaboration with patient, family and multidisciplinary team.
  • Facilitates one on one communication with primary care physician regarding current and ongoing patient care needs.
  • Acts as a hospitalist service liaison with patient care staff.
  • Acts as a liaison and facilitator between hospitalist, staff members, case managers, and attending physician regarding patient.

Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills, Licensure, Training & Travel Requirements (if applicable):

  • Advanced knowledge and clinical skills acquired through completion of formal education program for Nurse Practitioner.
  • Three to five years experience in acute care hospital medicine preferred. ACLS Certified required.
  • Licensed by the South Carolina State Board of Medical Examiners.
  • Current South Carolina Nurse Practitioner’s license with authorization for prescriptive authority.
