Job summary

Saint Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to provide comprehensive patient care in collaboration with the physician/medical director. You will take histories, perform examinations, order tests, establish diagnoses and manage common illnesses, with a focus on prevention.

You will participate in admissions, transfers, and discharges, refer to specialists, and work within a multidisciplinary team to develop patient-centered plans.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree required from an accredited nursing program.
  • RN:AZ license required.
  • RNP:AZ license required.
  • DEA:AZ subspecialty certificate required.
  • BLS CPR certification required.
  • ACLS required.
  • Credentialing with SJHMC required.

Responsibilities

  • Assume clinical responsibility for patient history, exams, diagnostics, diagnosis, and management of common illnesses and preventive care.
  • Assist with patient admission, transfer, or discharge as needed.
  • Refer to specialists and community agencies; participate in quality assurance programs.
  • Work in a multidisciplinary team to develop patient-centered care plans.
  • Provide care for acutely ill patients; respond to emergencies; may see patients in ICUs or high-acuity settings.
  • Deliver comprehensive, specialized care in critical care environments and ensure appropriate referrals.

Job Summary And Responsibilities

As our Nurse Practitioner, in collaboration with the physician/medical director, you will assume clinical responsibility for tasks performed within your scope of practice. This includes taking patient's history, performing physical examinations, ordering appropriate diagnostic tests, establishing diagnosis, and providing care and management for common illnesses and disease prevention.

Every day, you may assist with patient admission, transfer, or discharge. You will make appropriate referrals to specialists and community agencies, and participate in quality assurance and quality improvement programs. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to develop patient-centered plans. In addition to routine duties, you will provide care and management for acutely ill patients, respond to emergency situations, and may see patients in intensive care units or other high-acuity settings.

To be successful in your role, you will strategically deliver comprehensive, specialized patient care, assuming clinical responsibility for assessing, diagnosing, and managing common illnesses and acute conditions, often in critical care settings. You will demonstrate exceptional clinical expertise in performing physical examinations, ordering diagnostic tests, and collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team to develop patient-centered plans, while actively participating in quality assurance and ensuring appropriate referrals and care management.
