Job summary

The Virginia League for Planned Parenthood seeks a Nurse Practitioner to join our Clinician team in Hampton Roads. You will provide high quality, patient-centered care across primary care, family planning, gender-affirming hormone care and abortion services in a regulated clinical setting.

Candidates should have Virginia APRN license with prescriptive authority, DEA, RN license and BLS. Experience with IUD/implants, ultrasound, LARC, and GAHT or primary care is preferred; training is available

Qualifications

  • Virginia APRN license with prescriptive authority and specialization in Family Medicine or Women's Health.
  • DEA license and Virginia RN license.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Experience with LARC including IUDs and implants, medication abortion, ultrasound, GAHT or primary care; willingness to train the right candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret patient medical and social history.
  • Provide information on general health, family planning, STI testing, pregnancy options and abortion services.
  • Medical assessment and management within scope of practice.
  • Prescribe medications and manage treatment plans.
  • Perform ultrasound, IUD insertion/removal, implant insertion/removal, colposcopy, LEEP as trained.
  • Document accurately in patient records and clinic logs.
  • Coordinate follow-up and referrals per treatment plans.
  • Support patient care goals and clinic revenue targets.
  • Precept/train medical trainees and students.

Job description

The Virginia League for Planned Parenthood is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join our Clinician team in Hampton Roads!

VLPP Clinicians provide high quality patient centered care in accordance with practice protocols. This may include initiation and maintenance of patients seeking general (primary) healthcare, family planning services, gender-affirming hormone care and abortion services. Functions within the medical protocols established within the standards and guidelines and standing orders and as part of a patient care team.

We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner experienced with LARC including IUDs and implants, medication abortion and ultrasound, GAHT and/or primary care, however, we are willing to train the right candidate.

Clinicians with Autonomous Practice in Virginia are strongly encouraged to apply and will qualify for a highly starting rate of pay.

Education / Certification Requirements: Virginia APRN license - to include prescriptive authority and specialization in Family Medicine or Women's Health; DEA license, Virginia RN license, current BLS certification

Duties and Responsibilities (may include some or all of the following):

  • Perform all tasks according to VLPP Medical Standards and Guidelines as well as relevant HIPAA, CLIA, OSHA, VDH and other regulatory requirements, including infection control standards and security guidelines.
  • Review and interpret patient medical and social history.
  • Provide patients with appropriate and unbiased information, education and resources related to general health, chronic medical conditions, family planning methods, sexually transmitted infections, pregnancy options and abortion services.
  • Perform appropriate medical assessment and management for a range of conditions as per appropriate scope of practice and training.
  • Evaluate patient needs, provide treatment options and implement regimens, including administering and prescribing medications.
  • Perform procedures as trained/privileged, such as ultrasound, IUD insertion/removal, implant insertion/removal, colposcopy, LEEP, etc.
  • Provide medical management for procedure-related complications; assume lead role in management of emergency situations as necessary.
  • Order lab tests as indicated, interpret results and ensure appropriate follow-up.
  • Perform PPM procedures as approved by the Lab Director and participate in internal and external assessment of lab proficiency.
  • Perform accurate and thorough medical documentation in patient records and clinic logs; file and maintain patient records.
  • Ensure complete and accurate coding for visits/services rendered.
  • Participate in patient follow-up and referral system in compliance with indicated treatment plans, notification and reminder requirements and timelines.
  • Respond to client telephone and electronic inquiries/requests regarding their medical care and condition.
  • Participate in clinic efforts to achieve customer service, productivity and revenue goals; demonstrate commitment to center’s operating values of patient-centered care, team approach to work and consistent regulatory compliance/inspection readiness.
  • Precept/train medical trainees and students within guidelines of affiliate programs.

Pay: This position starts between $114,073 - 120,784 annually, depending on experience (full time, 5 days a week). Candidates with Autonomous Practice in Virginia will be eligible for a higher starting rate of pay.

Schedule : Full-time, 40/hrs (5 days) or 32/hrs (4 days) a week schedule available; typical working hours are Monday-Friday between 8:30 am and 5:00 pm. This position will support our Virginia Beach, Chesapeake and Hampton clinics in the Hampton Roads Region and will be required to cover one Saturday every 4 - 6 week as needed at our Virginia Beach Clinic.

Requests for a part time schedule (2-3 days a week) may be considered depending on clinic needs. Part time employees must have the availability to work at least 4 days a week during their training period.
