Job summary

Missouri Cancer Associates in Columbia, Missouri, is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join our oncology/hematology team. The role involves direct patient care, collaboration with physicians, and delivery of high-quality cancer care in a clinic or telemedicine setting.

The NP will assess and manage care with a focus on prevention, treatment, and education, reporting to supervising physicians. A MSN and active NP license with CPR/BLS are required, with a minimum of three years of NP experience

Qualifications

  • MSN from an accredited nursing school.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a practicing Nurse Practitioner.
  • Current RN license and NP license in practicing state; BLS/CPR certification.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and plan patient care in oncology/hematology settings.
  • Initiate and document interventions; monitor patient responses and adjust therapies.
  • Perform procedures with supervision as required by role.
  • Educate patients and families; promote wellness and use community resources.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and documentation requirements.
  • Contribute to timely patient charge capture and medical record entries.

This position is under the supervision or in collaboration with practice physicians, involved in the care of individuals, families and patient groups who are dealing with cancer or other related diagnosis. This care may be in clinic or virtually, via telemedicine. Responsibilities may include duties related to prevention, screening, and patient care. May serve as direct caregiver, health care consultant, or patient educator. Ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards and requirements. Supports and adheres to the MO Cancer Associates Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

This position is full-time (7:30-4, Monday - Friday) and located at Missouri Cancer Associates, 1705 E Broadway, Columbia, MO.

Call Requirements include 1 night per week.

Responsibilities
  • Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care for patients.
  • Initiates and documents appropriate interventions; evaluates and records patient/family response and prescribes therapies as indicated.
  • Performs procedures with minimal supervision.
  • Assesses patient/family needs and provides education.
  • Promotes wellness and recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.
  • Solid knowledge of reimbursement procedures and documentation requirements.
  • Completes patient charge capture and medical record documentation in a timely fashion.
  • May provide palliative care for the patient and their families as needed.
  • May promote/provide staff education
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing school and successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner program. This position typically requires a minimum of 3 years of experience as a practicing Nurse Practitioner, preferably in the chosen specialty. RN state licensure and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state. Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner. AOCNP preferred. Current basic life support (BLS)/CPR certification required.
