Job summary

Medical City Dallas is seeking a Nurse Manager of Labor and Delivery to lead the department within a busy tertiary care hospital. You will oversee staffing, budgets, and performance improvement to align with the hospital’s mission and standards of care.

The ideal candidate holds a Texas RN license with L&D experience; an advanced degree is preferred, and a proven track record in managing personnel, payroll and physician relations while ensuring patient safety.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing required. Advanced degree preferred.
• Five years of management experience including personnel, payroll, budgets, capital, business planning, marketing and physician relations.
• Labor and Delivery experience required.
• Must be competent in L&D clinical practice.

Responsibilities

• The Nurse Manager of Labor and Delivery is responsible for all departmental functions in support of the hospital mission, vision and facility goals.
• Identifies cost-effective systems to support the department business, considering trends, resources and customers.
• Develops care plans based on RN assessment and reassessment.
• Maintains qualifications to function as a staff nurse in Labor and Delivery during high census or low staffing periods.
• Establishes positive working relationships with patients, physicians, employees, volunteers and vendors.
