Job summary

Dominican Hospital, part of Dignity Health, in Santa Cruz, CA, seeks a Nursing Manager to lead and mentor a nursing team, oversee clinical operations, and champion patient- and team-centered care. You will drive professional development and unit-level goals with accountability and clear communication.

You will schedule shifts, coordinate unit activities, monitor care quality, train staff, and provide hands-on nursing support as needed. Relocation and sign-on options may be offered.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing or equivalent education and experience upon hire.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of nursing experience.
  • One (1) year of leadership experience.
  • Registered Nurse: CA, upon hire.
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program, upon hire.
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring, within 12 months.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules nursing staff to specific shifts and measures employee performance.
  • Coordinates the unit activities during shifts and directs work to the nursing staff.
  • Assesses and educates staff on patient care and Institutes emergency procedures as needed.
  • Provides nursing care to patients on an as needed basis.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Nursing Manager, you will be a dynamic leader, guiding and empowering our nursing team to deliver exceptional, patient-centered care through continuous growth and operational excellence.

Every day you will lead and mentor Registered Nurses, oversee clinical operations, and advocate for patient and team needs, driving professional development and achieving unit goals.

To be successful in this role, you will embody accountability and confidence with superior communication skills for all interactions. You'll skillfully navigate challenges, ensuring individual performance and overall unit success.

  • Schedules nursing staff to specific shifts, taking into account past utilization trends. Measures employee performance. Assists in the training of new staff members and the development of existing staff members.

  • Coordinates the activities of the unit during a particular shift and directs, organizes, and assigns work to the nursing staff.

  • Assesses, monitors, and educates the nursing staff on patient care. Institutes emergency procedures as necessary.

  • Provides nursing care to patients on an as needed basis.
