Job description

Job Overview:

This position has 24-hour accountability for their area of responsibility, including patient care outcomes, service excellence, human resource issues, fiscal management, quality improvement compliance, and communication. The role emphasizes creating a positive environment that fosters professional growth and retention by acting as a role model, mentor, and coach to staff.

Job Requirements:
  1. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  2. Certification within specialty area within two years of assuming the position
  3. Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS)
  4. Registered Nurse
  5. Membership in related professional organization preferred
  6. 2-3 years experience in progressive nursing leadership in a related field
  7. 2-3 years clinical nursing experience
Job Responsibilities:
  1. Quality and Patient Safety: Identifies key indicators and implements performance improvement measures related to quality, safety, nursing practice outcomes, and customer expectations. Evaluates customer satisfaction.
  2. Retention Risk Assessment: Solicits staff concerns, assists in retaining new employees, and maintains high visibility and approachability.
  3. Staff Recruitment and Selection: Assesses staffing needs, partners with HR, networks to enhance candidate pool, and conducts interviews.
  4. Customizing Staff Development: Identifies educational needs, facilitates development opportunities, and monitors staff performance for policy compliance.
  5. Enhancing Unit Communication: Uses varied communication methods to gather feedback and develop relationships with physicians and staff.
  6. Unit Leadership: Collaborates with staff to develop and achieve performance goals, fosters leadership among staff, and supports strategic nursing and unit-specific objectives.

This position is responsible for one department with 60 or more FTEs or multiple departments with a total of 40+ FTEs.

Working Conditions:

Includes various physical activities with frequencies, such as occasional climbing, frequent talking, and consistent reading and sitting, among others.
