Job summary

Allegheny Health Network in Pittsburgh is seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager to lead clinical teams while maintaining meaningful bedside involvement.

You will partner with nursing leadership to drive quality initiatives, staff development, operational efficiency, and exceptional patient outcomes across units.

Ideal candidates hold a BSN, have 3+ years of medical/surgical bedside nursing with leadership experience, ACLS and NIHSS, and prefer a MSN; active PA RN licensure required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required within 3 years of hire.
• 1 year of demonstrated clinical leadership experience.
• PA RN licensure or multi-state licensure through eNLC.
• Master’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
• National Certification.
• 3+ years of Medical, Telemetry, or Progressive Care bedside nursing experience.
• CPR certification and background checks (Act34/Act33/Act73) required.

Responsibilities

• Lead by example with mission, vision, and values within responsibilities.
• Conduct monthly unit conferences with minutes and goals.
• Complete annual performance appraisals for assigned staff.
• Attend meetings as directed by nurse manager.
• Promote unit-based shared governance and staff development.
• Encourage nursing specialty certification and staff engagement.
• Ensure care aligns with professional standards and regulatory guidelines.
• Monitor departmental performance against evidence-based quality and safety goals.
• Participate in regulatory readiness and unit quality planning.
• Support patient experience improvements and collaborative problem-solving.
