Job summary

University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a Nurse Manager for the Adult Acute Care Unit (2JCP) in Iowa City. The role provides leadership to ensure safe clinical care and resources for staff to meet performance objectives, with a focus on planning, organizing and improving health care operations.

The Nurse Manager will guide a 30-bed medical-surgical unit, oversee staffing, budgets, care coordination, and quality initiatives while mentoring staff and supporting education of health care students.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Nursing required; Master's preferred or Doctorate.
• Current license to practice nursing in Iowa.
• Nurse leadership experience in acute/critical care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Hire, develop and manage staff performance in perioperative setting.
• Prepare and monitor budget; analyze variances and action plans.
• Lead to ensure optimal patient outcomes; establish quality initiatives.
• Allocate resources to meet quality and productivity; monitor satisfaction.
• Assess care coordination; ensure flexible staffing and continuity of care.
• Develop action plans to meet strategic goals and report progress to nursing leadership.
• Advocate for unit needs; encourage multidisciplinary problem solving and best practices.
• Educate and mentor staff; support education of healthcare students.
