Job summary

University of Maryland Medical System seeks a Nurse Manager for the Access Center to oversee the bed management process and enhance patient access and flow across the system. You will lead nurse coordinators, solve staffing and operational challenges, and drive initiatives with UMMS leaders to improve efficiency and quality of care.

You will use performance data to guide decisions, develop staffing plans to meet fluctuating volumes, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field required.
• RN licensure active in Maryland required.
• Minimum of five years as a registered nurse required.
• At least two years of nursing leadership experience required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and continuously improve the system-wide bed management process.
• Match patients to appropriate beds based on clinical needs and maximize capacity.
• Monitor patient flow, hospital capacity, transfers, and throughput across UMMS.
• Lead development, implementation, and evaluation of Access Center Nurse Coordinator processes.
• Use data and performance metrics to identify trends and support decision-making.
• Hire, coach, develop, and evaluate Access Center staff.
