Job summary

Universal Health Services, Inc. is seeking a Registered Nurse leader to oversee nursing care in a hospital setting in New Jersey. This role supervises staff, coordinates patient care delivery, and ensures cost-effective operations around the clock.

Requirements include NJ RN license, 3+ years hospital experience with 2+ years in psychiatric nursing, BSN or related field, and active BLS. Strong leadership and communication skills are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

  • Licensed in New Jersey as a Registered Nurse.
  • Minimum of three years of hospital-based nursing.
  • Minimum of two years experience in psychiatric nursing.
  • BSN or BS in related health field; active pursuit of bachelor's degree allowed.
  • Past experience should include supervision of staff.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of effective management and supervisory practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to plan, direct, and monitor others’ activities with leadership abilities.
  • Demonstrates progressive roles in nursing leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with Medical Staff and Department Managers to ensure needs of the total service are met.
  • Foster and promote open communications. Assists in the assessment of potential new patient referrals.
  • When Patient Advocate is unavailable facilitates resolution of complaints or grievances/requests by patients and visitors in accordance to legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible and accountable for making decisions related to the structure, coordination and resources required to deliver cost-effective professional nursing care 24 hours per day.
  • Performance Improvement activities that support the overall efficiency of the nursing department.
  • Participates in the hiring, promotion, discipline and evaluation of unit staff, as well as, the orientation of new staff to the unit and ongoing educational development of unit staff.
  • Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each adult/adolescent/geriatric patient's age specific needs and provide age specific treatment and care.
