Job summary

Hampton Behavioral Health Center, part of Universal Health Services, is seeking a Nurse Manager to oversee patient care on assigned units. Hours are 8:00 am–4:30 pm, Monday–Friday, with supervision from the Director of Nursing.

The role focuses on staffing, quality patient care, and compliance with regulatory requirements, with opportunities for professional growth within UHS.

Qualifications

• Licensed RN in New Jersey.
• 3+ years hospital-based nursing.
• 2+ years psychiatric nursing experience.
• BSN or related health field (degree in progress acceptable).
• Previous staff supervision experience.
• Current BLS certification required.
• Demonstrated knowledge of management and supervisory practices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

Hampton Behavioral Health Center offers unparalleled inpatient and outpatient treatment for adolescents, adults, dually diagnosed adults (mental health and addiction issues) and older adults. Understanding the diverse needs of our patients, we also offer Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) on both an inpatient and outpatient basis. Our main campus is centrally located in Westampton Township, New Jersey, and houses our 120-bed inpatient facility as well as Hampton Counseling Center, providing Intensive Outpatient (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization (PHP) services. Hampton Counseling Center's satellite outpatient locations are located in Cherry Hill and Camden County.

This is a full-time position for a Nurse Manager. Hours are 8:00 am - 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. Under the supervision of the DON the nurse manager will be responsible for the management of patient care on assigned unit(s) to ensure optimum quality patient care is provided by nursing staff on a 24 hour basis.

• Monitors the delivery of patient care.
• Collaborates with Medical Staff and Department Managers to ensure needs of the total service are met.
• Foster and promote open communications. Assists in the assessment of potential new patient referrals.
• When Patient Advocate is unavailable facilitates resolution of complaints or grievances/requests by patients and visitors in accordance to legal and regulatory requirements.
• Responsible and accountable for making decisions related to the structure, coordination and resources required to deliver cost-effective professional nursing care 24 hours per day.
• Performance Improvement activities that support the overall efficiency of the nursing department.
• Participates in the hiring, promotion, discipline and evaluation of unit staff, as well as, the orientation of new staff to the unit and ongoing educational development of unit staff.
• Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each adult/adolescent/geriatric patient's age specific needs and provide age specific treatment and care.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

• Licensed in the state of New Jersey as a Registered Nurse.
• Minimum of three years of hospital-based nursing.
• Minimum of two years experience in psychiatric nursing required.
• BSN or BS in related health field. Will consider applicant in the active process of obtaining a bachelor's degree with employment experience.
• Past experience should include supervision of staff.
• Current BLS certification required.
• Demonstrated knowledge of effective management and supervisory practices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to plan, direct, and monitor others' activities with demonstrated leadership abilities that contribute to a positive work environment.
• Demonstrates progressive roles in nursing leadership.
