Job summary

The Hampton Behavioral Health Center in New Jersey seeks a Nurse Manager to oversee nursing care on assigned units. This full-time role runs 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, under the DON's supervision.

You will ensure high-quality patient care 24/7 by guiding nursing staff and coordinating clinical operations. Responsibilities include monitoring patient care delivery, collaborating with medical staff, addressing referrals, and resolving patient concerns in line with regulatory

Qualifications

  • RN licensed in New Jersey.
  • Minimum 3 years hospital-based nursing.
  • Minimum 2 years psychiatric nursing.
  • BSN or related health degree; pursuing degree acceptable.
  • Experience supervising staff.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to plan, direct, and monitor activities with leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors the delivery of patient care.
  • Collaborates with Medical Staff and Department Managers to ensure the needs of the total service are met.
  • Fosters and promotes open communications; assists in the assessment of potential new patient referrals.
  • Facilitates resolution of complaints or grievances/requests by patients and visitors in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible and accountable for decisions related to the structure, coordination and resources required to deliver cost‑effective professional nursing care 24 hours per day.
  • Performance improvement activities that support the overall efficiency of the nursing department.
  • Participates in the hiring, promotion, discipline and evaluation of unit staff, as well as orientation of new staff to the unit and ongoing educational development of unit staff.
  • Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each adult/adolescent/geriatric patient’s age‑specific needs and provide age‑specific treatment and care.

Job description

The Hampton Behavioral Health Center offers inpatient and outpatient mental health and addiction services, electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), Intensive Outpatient (IOP), and Partial Hospitalization (PHP) programs.

Responsibilities

This is a full‑time position for a Nurse Manager. Hours are 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Under the supervision of the DON the nurse manager will be responsible for the management of patient care on assigned unit(s) to ensure optimum quality patient care is provided by nursing staff on a 24‑hour basis.

  • Monitors the delivery of patient care.
  • Collaborates with Medical Staff and Department Managers to ensure the needs of the total service are met.
  • Fosters and promotes open communications; assists in the assessment of potential new patient referrals.
  • When the Patient Advocate is unavailable facilitates resolution of complaints or grievances/requests by patients and visitors in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible and accountable for making decisions related to the structure, coordination and resources required to deliver cost‑effective professional nursing care 24 hours per day.
  • Performance improvement activities that support the overall efficiency of the nursing department.
  • Participates in the hiring, promotion, discipline and evaluation of unit staff, as well as orientation of new staff to the unit and ongoing educational development of unit staff.

Qualifications
  • Licensed in the state of New Jersey as a Registered Nurse.
  • Minimum of three years of hospital‑based nursing.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in psychiatric nursing.
  • BSN or BS in a related health field; will consider applicants actively obtaining a bachelor’s degree.
  • Past experience includes supervision of staff.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of effective management and supervisory practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to plan, direct, and monitor others’ activities with demonstrated leadership abilities that contribute to a positive work environment.
  • Demonstrates progressive roles in nursing leadership.
