Job summary

Universal Hospital Services Inc. seeks a Nurse Manager/Education Coordinator (NM/EC) to provide continuous nursing care under the CNO.

The role features clinical leadership, ongoing staff education, and coordination of all nursing personnel in assigned areas, aligning with hospital policies and Nursing Services procedures. The NM/EC will promote a high-performance climate, model best practices, teach staff, and ensure quality care through the nursing process.

Qualifications

• ADN/ASN required; bachelor’s or master’s preferred.
• California RN licensure required.
• 3+ years of psychiatric nursing clinical experience, including Charge Nurse and Nursing Supervisor roles.
• Knowledge of hospital policies/procedures; leadership and managerial skills.
• Experience with infection control practices and employee health.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), the Nurse Manager/Education Coordinator (NM/EC) provides continuous nursing care in the assigned area(s) in a manner consistent with the philosophy and objectives of the Hospital and within the framework of established policies and procedures of the Department of Nursing Services. The NM/EC is responsible for the clinical leadership, ongoing education, and coordination of all nursing personnel. As a key team member in the clinical area, the NM/EC promotes a climate of effective performance through role modeling, willingness to learn and teach, and availability to patients and staff. Organizes, manages and coordinates nursing services and will assure quality nursing care, utilizing the nursing process, as outlined by the Nurse Practice Act. Functions as representative for the CNO, in the CNO’s absence and is responsible for oversight of the Infection Control Coordinator and to address employee health issues.

The NM/EC who is a Registered Nurse may serve as a Qualified Medical Professional (QMP) and/or a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) to perform medical screens (Medical and Mental Health Component) to determine whether an individual has an emergency medical condition.

Qualifications

Education: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required. Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Nursing preferred.

Credentials: Licensure by the California Board of Registered Nursing required.

Experience:

• Three (3) years of clinical experience in psychiatric nursing, including Charge Nurse and Nursing Supervisor experience required.
• Thorough working knowledge of Hospital, Nursing and HR policies/procedures, with demonstrated ability to use skills in clinical and managerial situations.
• Experience with clinical infection control practices and employee health required.
