Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager to support the Nurse Manager and oversee 24/7 operations of the designated units. You will mentor staff, coordinate orientation and development, and contribute to performance assessments, while models of clinical excellence and leadership.

In this role you will lead by example, educate teams, and supervise nursing practice, ensuring high-quality patient care and compliance with VA standards across shifts.

Qualifications

• English language proficiency required for direct patient care.
• Graduate of a nursing program approved by accrediting bodies (ACEN/CCNE) or approved bridge program; licensure guidance included.
• Current, full, active, unrestricted RN license in the United States or DC; GNT exception for temporary appointment while pursuing licensure.

Responsibilities

• Support Nurse Manager with supervisory duties for designated units.
• Direct orientation, training, and development of staff.
• Provide input into performance evaluations.
• Serve as a role model, educator, practitioner, and supervisor providing leadership.
