Job summary

MetroHealth Rehabilitation Institute in Cleveland, OH, seeks a Nurse Intern for the Neuro Trauma Recovery Stroke Unit (5N) to support patient care during clinical rotations. You'll assist RNs, perform neurological assessments, and help with ADLs, mobility training, vital signs, and wound care under supervision.

The role supports students in accredited nursing programs with 16 hours bi-weekly and a path toward OPERS benefits and tuition assistance as part of a public employer system.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited school of professional nursing.
• Completed fundamentals of nursing.
• Currently registered in clinical rotations.
• Continuous enrollment in a nursing program.
• Eligibility to continue in the position is a maximum of 6 months upon graduating from nursing school.
• Current AHA Basic Life Support for the healthcare provider certification or obtains within 90 days of hire.

Primary Patient Population:

• Stroke Rehabilitation

Primary skills utilized/learned:

• Neurological assessments
• Adaptive ADLs
• Transfer/Mobility training
• Vital signs, IVs, Foley Catheter insertion/removal, Wound care, etc.

Personnel Nurse Intern will work with:

• RNs, LPNs, Patient Care Nursing Assistants (PCNAs), Nurse Interns, Providers, Social Workers/Case Management, Respiratory Therapy, PT/OT, Speech Therapy, Art & Music Therapy, Dieticians

Number of beds on unit:

• 14 beds
