Job summary

MetroHealth Rehabilitation Institute is seeking a Nurse Intern for the Neuro Trauma Recovery Stroke Unit, 5N, to support patient care under supervision. The role focuses on stroke rehabilitation, neurological assessments, ADL support, and mobility training in a 14-bed inpatient unit.

You will collaborate with RNs, LPNs, PCNAs, therapists and social workers, participate in clinical rotations, and complete fundamentals of nursing with current BLS.

Qualifications

• Active enrollment in an accredited nursing program with ongoing clinical rotations.
• Completed fundamentals of nursing and currently in rotations.
• Eligible to continue in the position up to 6 months after graduation.
• Current AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers or ability to obtain within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Support patient care on the Neuro Trauma Recovery Stroke Unit under supervision.
• Assist with neurological assessments, ADL support, and mobility training.
• Collaborate with RNs, LPNs, PCNAs, therapists, and social workers.
• Monitor vitals, IVs, Foley care, wound care, and report changes.

Personnel Nurse Intern will work with

• RNs, LPNs, Patient Care Nursing Assistants (PCNAs), Nurse Interns, Providers, Social Workers/Case Management, Respiratory Therapy, PT/OT, Speech Therapy, Art & Music Therapy, Dieticians

Number of beds on unit: 14 beds

Required Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited school of professional nursing (or a program seeking accreditation).
• Completed fundamentals of nursing
• Currently registered in clinical rotations
• Continuous enrollment in a nursing program
• Eligibility to continue in the position is a maximum of 6 months upon graduating from nursing school
• Current AHA Basic Life Support for the healthcare provider certification or obtains within 90 days of hire.
