Job summary

MetroHealth Rehabilitation Institute- Old Brooklyn is seeking a Nurse Intern to support the Neuro Trauma Recovery Stroke Unit, 5N. You will work alongside RNs, LPNs, and therapy teams to gain hands-on experience in a high-acuity inpatient setting.

Requirements include enrollment in an accredited nursing program, completion of fundamentals, and current or pending AHA BLS certification. The program offers industry-leading benefits and opportunities for professional growth within a top-ranked Ohio

Qualifications

• Enrolled nursing student with fundamentals completed.
• Eligible for clinical rotations and ongoing enrollment.
• Awareness of BLS requirements or readiness to obtain within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Assist with neurological assessments and patient monitoring.
• Support adaptive activities of daily living (ADLs) and mobility training.
• Assist with transfers, vital signs, wound care, and basic nursing tasks.
• Collaborate with RNs, LPNs, therapists, and care teams.

Primary Patient Population:

• Stroke Rehabilitation

Primary skills utilized/learned:

• Neurological assessments
• Adaptive ADLs
• Transfer/Mobility training
• Vital signs, IVs, Foley Catheter insertion/removal, Wound care, etc.

Personnel Nurse Intern will work with:

• RNs, LPNs, Patient Care Nursing Assistants (PCNAs), Nurse Interns, Providers, Social Workers/Case Management, Respiratory Therapy, PT/OT, Speech Therapy, Art & Music Therapy, Dieticians

Number of beds on unit:

• 14 beds
