Job summary

Health & Human Services Commission (HHSC) Vernon South Campus seeks a Nurse III to provide direct nursing care, supervise staff, and coordinate patient services. The role requires an RN license, 3+ years of nursing experience, and the ability to ensure continuous high-quality care in a psychiatric hospital setting.

Responsibilities include assessment, care planning, and collaboration with Nurse Coordinators to maintain 24-hour care continuity.

Qualifications

• Three years of RN experience in a recognized health care facility.
• Graduation from a Nursing Program accredited by the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners.
• Licensed to practice as an RN in Texas (or reciprocity).

Responsibilities

• Assess health/mental status on admission/transfer and document care plan.
• Coordinate staffing and patient care activities on assigned units.
• Ensure 24-hour continuity of care with Nurse Coordinator/Manager oversight.
• Supervise, counsel, and evaluate other nursing staff.
