Job summary

The Agency for Health Care Administration in Florida is seeking a Registered Nurse Specialist to conduct inspections of health care facilities under state licensure and federal certification requirements. You will document findings and prepare written survey reports, sometimes leading a team.

This mission essential position requires RN licensure, ability to travel, and willingness to work weekends, holidays, and during disasters.

Qualifications

• Licensure as a registered professional nurse in accordance with Florida Statute 464 and two years of professional nursing experience is required.
• Knowledge of nursing principles, practices and techniques.
• Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.
• Knowledge of state licensure and federal certification survey requirements.
• Knowledge of methods of compiling, organizing and analyzing data.
• Ability to develop and implement various programs monitoring methodologies and techniques.
• Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
• Ability to prioritize workload.
• Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Skills in oral communication, interviewing, team dynamics and performance evaluations.
• Ability to travel with or without accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections using an established survey process.
• Evaluate facilities for state licensure and federal certification requirements for Medicare/Medicaid participation.
• Document findings and complete written survey reports.
• May perform surveys as an individual, team member or team leader.
• Complete the Surveyor Minimum Qualifications Test within 12 months of employment.
