Job summary

WellSpan Health's Summer 2027 Nurse Externship at Ephrata Hospital offers a paid clinical experience for RN students. The program runs May 17, 2027 to July 10, 2027 with rotating shifts and two 4-week unit experiences, supervised by an experienced RN preceptor.

Participants must have completed Medical-Surgical rotation, be in good standing, and be enrolled in an approved nursing program. Areas include Surgical, Medical, ED, ICU, Progress Care IMCU and Operating Room.

Qualifications

• Must have completed Medical Surgical rotation in accredited nursing program prior to start.
• Must maintain good standing status in accredited nursing program.
• Enrolled in an accredited nursing program with expected graduation.

Responsibilities

• Participate in a nurse externship under an RN preceptor.
• Engage in rotating shifts across units as scheduled.
• Complete required clinical assignments and participate in patient care activities.

Summer 2027 Nurse Externship at Ephrata Hospital!

• Program dates: May 17, 2027 - July 10, 2027
• (2) 4-week unit experiences
• Minimum work commitment = 36 hours per week
• Rotating shifts based on preceptor schedule
• Consideration given for RN students who are entering final semester/year (graduation in winter 2027 - summer 2028)
• Must have completed Medical Surgical rotation in accredited nursing program prior to start of externship.
• Must maintain good standing status in accredited nursing program.
• Paid clinical experience
• 1:1 experienced RN preceptor

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

• High School Diploma or GED Currently enrolled in an approved Nursing program with completion of two clinical semesters. Required and
• High School Diploma or GED Enrollment in an accredited BSN program Preferred

Licenses:

• Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required

Courses and Training:

• Completion of at least one medical-surgical clinical rotation Upon Hire Required
• Must be passing in an accredited program prior to Summer Externship Program Upon Hire Required
