Research Medical Center is seeking a Nurse Extern Student Nurse to gain hands-on experience while enrolled in an RN program. You’ll support essential patient care, assist with ADLs, monitor vital signs, and collaborate with the nursing team to deliver safe, compassionate care.

You will document care, communicate updates, and help patients understand their care plans while growing your nursing competencies and career development with a supportive preceptor.

Qualifications

• Active enrollment in an RN nursing program.
• Nursing fundamentals completed by start date.
• BLS/CPR must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.

Responsabilités

• Provide essential patient care, assist with ADLs, monitor vital signs.
• Support mobility, comfort, and patient hygiene for safe care.
• Perform basic nursing tasks as competency grows (wound, catheter care, specimen collection).
• Document care accurately and communicate timely updates to the nursing team.
• Educate patients and families about care plans and recovery steps.
• Maintain infection prevention practices and a clean, organized environment.

Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Nurse Extern, you’ll be a valued part of the nursing team, gaining hands‑on experience as you explore the full scope of the Registered Nurse role. You’ll help deliver safe, compassionate care that improves patients' lives while building the skills and confidence to take on more advanced responsibilities as you progress through your nursing program.Your responsibilities will include:Providing essential care for patients by helping with ADLs (Activities of Daily Living), checking vital signs, supporting mobility, and ensuring comfort and hygienePerforming nursing tasks like wound care, catheter care, collecting specimens, and other basic procedures as you gain experience and grow in your competencyDocumenting care accurately and communicating timely updates with the nursing team to keep patient care seamless and coordinatedHelping patients and families understand their care plans and offering guidance for their health and recoveryKeeping patient areas clean and safe by following infection prevention practices, managing equipment, and maintaining an organized environmentChampioning your growth and enhancing patient care by engaging in learning opportunities, sharing ideas to improve care, and partnering with your supervisor or preceptor to build your personal career development plan

What qualifications you will need:

Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start dateMust be actively enrolle in a Nursing program for RN only. Must have nursing fundamentals completed by start date and actively taking Nursing fundamentals to interview.
