Job summary

Jackson Purchase Medical Center, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a Nurse Extern RN for Mayfield, KY. This PRN role supports the patient care team under an RN's direction, focusing on learning and delivering compassionate care to patients and families.

You'll perform direct patient care tasks, document care, monitor patient status, and coordinate with clinicians. The program emphasizes safety, education, and professional development within a supportive hospital environment.

Qualifications

• School of Nursing 3rd year student or higher.
• Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP)

Responsibilities

• Works collaboratively with the patient care team.
• Performs direct patient care under the direction, delegation and supervision of a registered nurse.
• Documents patient care given.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to supervising RN.
• Maintains positive professional relationship with patient/ families, coworkers, and health care team.
• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
• Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
• Supports performance improvement philosophy.
