Job summary

Mission Hospital is seeking a Nurse Extern for a PRN role to join our nursing team in Asheville, North Carolina. You will gain hands-on experience as you explore the Registered Nurse role while delivering safe, compassionate care and building confidence for more advanced responsibilities as you progress in your nursing program.

You will work alongside a dedicated team, completing essential nursing tasks, documenting care, and supporting patients and families.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required or obtained within 30 days of start date.
• Currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program and in good standing.
• NC (CNA) certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with ADLs, vital signs, mobility, and comfort.
• Perform basic nursing tasks as competency grows (wound care, catheter care, specimens).
• Document care and communicate updates with the team.
• Help patients and families understand care plans and guidance for recovery.
• Maintain clean, safe patient areas and infection prevention practices.
• Engage in growth opportunities and collaborate with supervisor on career development.
