Job summary

Tenet Healthcare is seeking a student nurse to provide basic and intermediate nursing care under the supervision of an RN across multiple units including General Nursing, Maternal Child, Nursery, Pediatric, GI Lab, Emergency, and Surgical Services. The role requires ongoing nursing education and clinical exposure with supervision.

Must be enrolled in an accredited nursing program and have completed at least one semester of clinicals.

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled in an accredited school of nursing and has completed one semester of clinicals in an RN program.
• Active healthcare provider Basic Life Support (BLS) required on hire; BLS within 60 days of hire.
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) training obtained within 60 days of hire or transfer to ED/Behavioral Health; NVCI must be completed before acting as a constant observer.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic and intermediate nursing care under RN supervision.
• Care for patients across General Nursing Units (ages 15+ to maturity).
• Support Maternal Child Units, Nursery, Pediatric, GI Lab, Chemical Dependent and Psychiatric Units, Emergency, and Surgical Services as assigned.

Job description

Under the direction/supervision of RN, provides basic and intermediate nursing care for assigned group of patients based on competence.

General Nursing Units care for patients from age 15 years to maturity by clinically competent nursing staff.

Special Care Areas care for patients 15 years through adult with high-risk conditions by clinically competent nursing staff.

Maternal Child Units: Labor and Delivery care includes patients who have a pregnancy related condition by staff who are clinically /competent in maternity care.

Nursery care includes care for newborn until discharge status by clinically competent staff.

Pediatric clinically competent staff provides care to patients from neonate through age of eighteen

GI Lab Unit cares for toddlers, beginning age 24 months, through adult by clinically competent staff.

Chemical Dependent Unit and Psychiatric Unit cares for adult patients and family with holistic approach to emotional problems by clinically competent nursing staff.

Emergency Unit provides care to presenting patients of all ages by clinically competent staff in pediatric high-risk adult care

Surgical Services provides care to patients from neonate to geriatric

Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION:

Must be currently enrolled in an accredited school of nursing and has completed one semester of clinicals in an RN program.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

Must have completed one semester of clinicals in an RN program.

REQUIRED COURSES/ COMPLETIONS (e.g., CPR):

Must have active healthcare provider Basic Life Support on hire (ARC or AHA); however, must have AHA Healthcare Provider BLS within 60 days of hire.

Non-Violent Crisis Intervention obtained within 60 days of hire or transfer to this position if working in the ED or Behavioral Health areas. Must complete NVCI training before working in the role of a constant observer.
