Job summary

Corpus Christi Medical Center is seeking a Nurse Extern - PRN to support patient care in a fast-paced hospital setting. You will assist with ADLs, monitor vitals, support mobility, and help with basic nursing tasks as you gain competency.

The role offers opportunities to learn through hands-on practice, documentation, and collaboration with the nursing team, while maintaining a strong focus on patient safety, infection control, and professional development.

Qualifications

• BLS certification within 30 days of start date.
• Currently pursuing an Associate Degree in Nursing.
• No travel required.

Responsibilities

• Provide essential patient care including assisting with ADLs, monitoring vital signs, mobility support, and hygiene.
• Perform basic nursing tasks such as wound care, catheter care, and specimen collection as competency grows.
• Document care activities and communicate updates with the nursing team to ensure coordinated patient care.
• Educate patients and families about care plans and health recovery processes.
• Maintain clean, safe patient environments and adhere to infection prevention practices.

Job Summary And Qualifications

• Providing essential care for patients by helping with ADLs (Activities of Daily Living), checking vital signs, supporting mobility, and ensuring comfort and hygiene
• Performing nursing tasks like wound care, catheter care, collecting specimens, and other basic procedures as you gain experience and grow in your competency
• Documenting care accurately and communicating timely updates with the nursing team to keep patient care seamless and coordinated
• Helping patients and families understand their care plans and offering guidance for their health and recovery
• Keeping patient areas clean and safe by following infection prevention practices, managing equipment, and maintaining an organized environment
• Championing your growth and enhancing patient care by engaging in learning opportunities, sharing ideas to improve care, and partnering with your supervisor or preceptor to build your personal career development plan

What qualifications you will need:

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
