Job summary

Ardent Health Services is seeking a rotating shift, PRN Labor & Delivery (L&D) Nurse Extern in Jacksonville, TX. The extern will work under the direct supervision of a registered nurse in the L&D unit and gain hands-on patient care experience.

Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited nursing program with an anticipated completion within 24 months from date of hire, possess a High School Diploma or GED, and have current BLS certification within 14 days of hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Must be enrolled in an Accredited Nursing Program with an anticipated completion from program within 24 months from date of hire.
• Must be currently enrolled and in good academic standing in a professional nursing program.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for performing functions as authorized under the direct supervision of a registered nurse.
• In addition, performs basic nursing tasks to include patient care, reporting patient conditions, circumstances, and maintaining equipment and unit cleanliness.
• The nurse extern must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit.
• Conditions: May be required to work irregular schedules. Potential exposure to hazard materials/situations to include but not limited to, blood-borne pathogens, ionizing radiation, and communicable diseases.

Education

High School Diploma or GED

Enrolled in Accredited Nursing Program (within 24 months to completion)

Currently enrolled in nursing program in good standing

BLS certification within 14 days of hire
