Job summary

Advocate Health is offering Nurse Extern II opportunities for Fall 2026 grads on post-surgical Ortho, Spine, Joint and ENT units at St. Luke's Medical Center. One 8-hour shift per week on days, with RN preceptors providing support and learning opportunities.

This role transitions from Nurse Extern II toward a Registered Nurse position, fostering growth and professional development within a supportive team, on units 11S and 11T focused on post-op care.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited or approved nursing program.
• Successful completion of a Medical Surgical Course including pharmacological concepts.

Responsibilities

• Assist with activities of daily living under RN supervision.
• Monitor vital signs and blood glucose as directed.
• Collaborate with RN to develop care plans based on patient needs.
• Under RN supervision, communicate observations and patient needs.
• Assist with patient positioning and transport as needed.
